Daily Sketches: Week 3

Monday: Go Skate
I decided to just go for a quick skater sketch here. They’re always good to draw as it’s easy to depict movement.

Tuesday: The Hills Are Alive
I decided today that I would draw something care free and innocent. Naturally I decided to sketch a scene from the sound of music. Seemed ideal. However, half way through sketching, I remembered reading somewhere that all the major tv stations have an agreement in place that in the event of a Nuclear war breaking out, they will all play “the sound of music” in an attempt to keep everybody sane and calm. After that, my drawing kind of took a twist.

I like the idea but I can’t say I’m too keen on the drawing itself. I think that it proved to be too ambitious for a five minute sketch.

Wednesday: Edward Scissorhands
I guess he’s pretty recognizable as Edward Scissorhands but the expression tells of a less appealing personality than Johnny Depp’s version I think.

This one would most likely be hard to get along with.

Thursday: Gandalf
I think this is my favorite out of all my daily sketches this week.
Looks really jovial and carefree. A welcome alternative to sourpuss Scissorhands from before.

Friday: Wizard of Oz versus Mary Poppins
The flying monkeys from A Wixard of Oz meets Mary Poppins. Makes sense right? Of course it does!

Saturday: It’s Capalday!!!
Saturday was the day that Peter Capaldi starred as the new Doctor in Doctor Who.

A most impressive debut! I’m going to enjoy his performances I think. Going to be a brilliant Doctor.

Sunday: All Hail the Laughing Dinosaur
laughing-dinosaur-illustrationThere was also a dinosaur that featured in Saturday’s Doctor Who but I wasn’t able to fit him in. I chose to rectify that by drawing him on Sunday. I like this one. Very loose.
